A real Spanish town, busy all year, with a coastline of coves and sandy beaches. In 2026 the municipality holds 6 Blue Flags: Del Conde, Higuericas, Jesuitas, Mil Palmeras, Puerto and Rocamar. Torre de la Horadada, its seaside village, has a marina and a promenade with restaurants. Best for: buyers who want Spain, not a resort.<\/p>\n
Shared between Pilar de la Horadada and Orihuela, Mil Palmeras is quiet, low-rise and family-friendly, with one of the area\u2019s longest sandy beaches. New-build apartments with solariums sell fast here. Best for: holiday homes and summer rentals.<\/p>\n
The most international part of the coast, with golf courses close by and 10 Blue Flag beaches in 2026 for Orihuela. Shops, schools and services in English are everywhere. Best for: year-round living with an international community, and strong holiday-let demand.<\/p>\n
A city with its own salt lakes, a lively seafront and the widest choice of resale apartments at accessible prices. Best for: investors and first purchases on the coast.<\/p>\n
Across the regional border, the Mar Menor is a shallow saltwater lagoon with calm, warm water, ideal for children and water sports. In 2022 Spain recognised the lagoon and its basin as a legal person (Ley 19\/2022), with its own protection bodies. Purchase tax on resale homes is lower in Murcia: 7.75% against 9% in Alicante (see buying costs<\/a>).
